Too many plastics end up in our oceans and disrupt our ecosystem. We feel compelled to help reduce the amount of plastics in our oceans by providing reusable, recyclable bags and encouraging customers to bring them back. Because we are trying to deter the use of single-use plastic bags and reduce the amount of waste, there will be a charge for both the single-use, plastic bags and the reusable bags.
Effective 4th March 2019, Gibbons Company and Gibbons Company Home Store, The Perfume Shop (Dockyard) & Bermuda Island Shop (St. George's) will be charging for both single-use plastic and reusable bags.

The durable bags are made out of recycled plastic water bottles - about 2-4 bottles per bag depending on the size. Bottles are collected, cleaned, sorted and processed by being crushed into small pieces. They are then re-formed into yarn to make up the fabric of the bags. The entire process uses 94% less water, 60% less energy and 32% less CO2 emissions than other textiles like cotton, linen, and wool.
We are currently working on a re-usable solution for our jumbo (pillow) bag and therefore, will not be charging for them at this time. Jumbo bags will only be available for the purchase of large items, such as pillows and comforter sets, which suit the needs of the bag.
