The Twenty 5 Reid shop, previously a dress shop, now features three very popular lines of shoes: Bandolino, Anne Klein and Marc Fisher; while the Nine West shop continues to feature a local favourite, their signature shoes.

Lauch of Homework Buddy Programme
GIBBONS COMPANY & DAVID BASCOME JOIN FORCES TO ASSIST PARENTS & BERMUDA’S YOUTH
Gibbons Company has partnered with well-known Bermudian and highly regarded former American football star and coach, David Bascome MBE and his Hope4Life Foundation to sponsor a signature community programme to create “The Homework Buddy Programme”. Gibbons Company will underwrite the costs to provide teaching staff, twice a week, to assist primary students with their homework assignments. David Bascome, through his Hope4Life charity, will lead the programme.
Many students who do not complete homework assignments do not have the kind of structure at home required and so the Homework Buddy Programme will assist in filling this void. The Homework Buddy Programme will provide quality time for the children, keeping them engaged and outside of the influence of negative experiences. David, who has worked tirelessly to get his message out and assist Bermuda’s youth will promote his message for positive change and encourage children to excel whether through academics, sport or community. This year, more than ever, there is tremendous need in the community. Gibbons Company and David Bascome, through Hope4Life, are determined to provide opportunity to Bermuda’s youth.
Paula Clarke, CEO of Gibbons Company adds “Gibbons Company is very pleased to play a major role in the sponsorship and funding of the Homework Buddy Programme. The programme launches at the beginning of the Fall term, at the Victor Scott School. Through David Bascome’s Hope 4 Life we will be providing homework assistance, two afternoons a week from 3:45 to 5:00pm. We will provide the extra help students need to build self esteem, achieve better results and assist families by alleviating stress filled time that can occur when working parents are stretched in those precious few hours before children go to bed. Gibbons Company believes in its community and the strength and foundation of family. This partnership with David Bascome is a very positive step toward the future. Our staff will be actively engaged in the programme, as will David and his ISL members. Gibbons Company staff held their first fund-raiser for the programme in April.”
Valerie Willaims, Headmistress of the Victor Scott School expressed her delight in the new programme, “We the Victor Scott family are excited that Gibbons Company have chosen our school to launch the Homework Buddy Programme with Hope4Life. Currently our students receive homework assistance two days per week from volunteers of the St. Paul’s A.M.E. church. With the generosity of Gibbons Company and Hope 4 Life our students will now receive assistance for an additional two afternoons per week. This will double the amount of homework support for our students. The programme will be run by qualified teachers and volunteers from Hope 4 Life and Gibbons Company.
During these difficult economic times, this programme will provide much stress relief for our parents and our hope is that they will be able to spend more quality time with their children after a hard day’s work. Our ultimate goal is to see student outcomes improve from all of the extra support.

The TechWeek Technology Innovation Awards, which celebrate innovative ways businesses and individuals use technology to make a difference in Bermuda everyday, were held on Friday, May 1, 2009.
Ministry of Energy, Telecommunications and E-Commerce, Mr. Terry Lister, presented awards to winners in the following categories:
Best Interactive Experience, Best Local Website, Most Inspiring Technology Teacher, Best Business Solution Using Technology, Best Customer Service, Technology in the Environment, Most Innovative Sponsor and top category, Innovation of the Year.
Gibbons Company’s new website was awarded “Best Interactive Experience”:
